Jiu Jitsu
Jiu Jitsu evolved from the Samarai of Feudal Japan as a method of defeating armed and armored opponents in combat. Jiu means: gentle, supple, flexible and pliable while Jitsu is defined as an “art or technique” that represents manipulating the opponents force against himself rather than confronting him with your own force. Use of pins, joint locks and throws were developed to take down armed armies by using their own energy against themselves. Techniques included all forms of grappling (throwing & trapping), joint locks, holds, gouging, biting and disengagements (striking & kicking). Other forms of Jiu Jitsu have evolved including Brazilian Jiu Jitsu taught here at MadHouse.
